I paint dirty landscapes, artificial landscapes, with traces of time and of the people who inhabited or walked through them; crumbling pavement, broken walls, graffiti - places that have outlived their original purpose, leaving only traces of human activity. These landscapes are usually located at the fringes of cities. I navigate man-made spaces to discover subjects of intrigue. These places of changing social environment acquire metaphorical meaning because of their own landscape condition, a traditional theme in art.
The idea of landscape, whether approached from a literal or abstract view, is the guiding thread of my pictorial work. In some works I show views from a human height, in others, I place the observer on distant platforms, looking over far landscapes. In the latter cases, the observer does not take part in the individual experience of the place. It is a distant critical view.
